CLINICAL TEACHING OPPORTUNITY – FAMILY MEDICAL RESIDENTS

Dear Fellow Colleagues,

I have been asked by Kildonan Medical Clinic (KMC – Family Med Residency Training site) to recruit a clinical teaching psychiatrist to address the educational goals of their program.  The Department of Family Medicine has a number of residents situated at KMC which provides primary care support for individuals that attend their clinic situated in the Seven Oaks Hospital.  Having worked at KMC’s partner clinic NCMC, I can attest that this opportunity opens the door to enhance mental health care within the community which will impact not only their patients but also the health system in the future.  The expectations of the role would be to assist Family Medical Residents in honing their interviewing skills while assessing patients who have been referred to the psychiatrist.  The psychiatrist would engage in discussion with the residents regarding the diagnosis/formulation and help the resident put together recommendations which would be communicated to the referrer in their clinic.

The time commitment could be a range from a half day per week to a half day per month depending on the recruited psychiatrists’ availability.  Remuneration would be either an hourly stipend as per community psychiatry Doctors MB (SIC) rates or a negotiated combination of stipend and fee for service.

Please feel free to contact me for further information and to discuss how your contribution in furthering the education of FM residents could make an impact in the community.

Sincerely,

Randy Goossen
