The Manitoba Psychiatric Association extends our warmest congratulations to Dr. Eric Sigurdson on being honored with the prestigious Maimonides Award for Scholarly Contributions to the Humanities in Psychiatry .This award recognizes an individual who exemplifies a commitment and scholarly productivity regarding the humanities as they pertain to the specialty of Psychiatry and the larger field of Mental Health.
Dr. Sigurdson is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, father and grandfather living in Winnipeg. Along with his many duties at the Health Sciences Center, he is a past president of the Manitoba Psychiatric Association, past president of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM)and continues to serve on the executive of the CPSM.
Dr. Sigurdson has authored two popular children’s books, “Baba’s Red Talking Chair” and “Afi’s Silver Pocket Watch”, which are described as stories “…about the vicissitudes of childhood and the intergenerational family dynamics that contribute to opportunities for growth and development.” Dr. Sigurdson’s books are available at McNally Robinson and other fine bookstores.
